A Thought From on Set
I’ve noticed that here on set, seemingly normal things like extension cords and clothespins have ridiculously dramatic names. I.e. extension cords are called stingers and clothespins are called bullets. There are other examples, countless actually, long microphones are called shotguns, short light stands are called beefy babies… the list goes on.
I have come to realize that this is the case because we members of a film crew are, by definition, huge nerds, and most of the gear we use is pretty un-exciting on its own as a result, stingers, bullets, beefy babies and shotguns because as nerds, we feel the need to make ourselves look and sound cooler than we are.
Freakin’ nerds.
