Touch: New Show Starring Kiefer Sutherland →
I just caught the preview/pilot episode of Fox’s new Kiefer Sutherland starrer: Touch, and was very pleasantly surprised. I normally don’t write on here about new TV shows, but I was impressed enough with this one to give it my full recommendation.
Very well written fun, cerebral and emotional show. Kiefer Sutherland is great as a very un-Jack Bauer like character. Those looking for...

The Philharmonic and the Phone
This evening (because evidently I have finally made the crossover to snooty-elitist-sophisticated New Yorker) I attended the New York Philharmonic at Lincoln Center. I am currently enrolled in a Music of New York class and we are focusing on the composer Gustav Mahler, whose 9th symphony was to be performed tonight. I am a film major and I am used to learning and creating visually, so the...

The World internet premiere of Grocery Run
1 Year ago, on Halloween 2010, we wrapped production on my Intermediate Narrative film “Grocery Run.”
Now, in honor of Halloween, Grocery Run is available for view online for the first time.
Thanks so much to the great cast and crew, it was a unique and challenging shoot but I couldn’t be happier with the finished result.

Tea Partiers/Fox News/Republicans: “Evil Big Guvnment’s takin’ our money and our jobs!”
Occupy Wall Streeters/The 99%/Democrats: “Dude, Evil Corporations are taking our money and our jobs!”

Truth. It’s starting to feel a lot like 2003 around here. Maybe it means there’s another 2004 coming soon?

Upon Returning From Ground Zero
Note: I wrote this at about 4:45am on May 2nd as a way of trying to process what I had just experienced. After reading it again this afternoon, I feel it might be worth sharing. I present it here with few edits from my original draft, leaving the repetition, grammatical errors and run on sentences in as they reflect the emotional and hazy mindset I was in while trying to capture everything I was...

Words of Wisdom from the Man Himself
Today, the 14 of us lucky enough to call ourselves interns at The Colbert Report were priviledged with a seminar with Stephen Colbert himself. Not the fake pundit mind you, but the actual man behind the character. Amongst the many pearls of wisdom and great antecdotes he shared with us were two pieces of great advice for making it in the arts and/or entertainment industry that really stood out...

A Serious note about News Coverage and Israel
Just like the rest of the Middle East, there has been much upheaval and terror in Israel as of late. A bus station bombing, the murder of an innocent family, Rockets being fired into Israel, Bombings into Gaza as a response. Not a good situation all around. Terrible tragedies in the face of a tumultuous time in that region and in our broader world.
Lately though, there’s been a status...

Why I am not afraid of the Robot Apocalypse.
As most of you all know, Watson the computer recently beat out the best Jeopardy players in the world, leading us all to fear that the matrix and the terminator was coming true. The computers are getting smarter than us! we’re all doomed!
I admit I was in the same boat, I mean if Watson can outsmart Alex Trebek & Co, it’s only a matter of time before it daily doubles itself all...

I strongly recommend that everyone watch Donald Rumsfeld’s interview from last night on the Daily Show. I had the unique privilege of watching this play out live on the shared feed from the Daily Show to the Colbert Report control room and I think it’s an important interview for anyone with misgivings about the original circumstances of us going into Iraq (i.e. everyone hopefully).
It...
Attention Women Everywhere...
The following is an incredibly well written letter from us menfolk to you ladies written by the always brilliant and witty (not to mention my former boss) Streeter Seidell. Please read it. It will save us both alot of confusion going forward.
streeter:
Dear Women,
For too long now we’ve misunderstood each other. We are both rational creatures—to a point—but due to our unique hormonal makeups...

Insanely Cool Interactive Music Video →
Anyone who’s ever felt nostalgic for their old childhood home check out this really cool music video/interactive web media experience set to Arcade Fire’s new song “We Used to Wait.”
This thing essentially uses google maps to take the address of the house you grew up in and make a personalized music video specific for you.
It really is quite awesome. It goes beyond a...

A Thought From on Set
I’ve noticed that here on set, seemingly normal things like extension cords and clothespins have ridiculously dramatic names. I.e. extension cords are called stingers and clothespins are called bullets. There are other examples, countless actually, long microphones are called shotguns, short light stands are called beefy babies… the list goes on.
I have come to realize that this is...
